Generations and Evangelism

Generations and Evangelism

MEDIA ADVISORY, July 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- Generational differences affect the way people interact, whether at the grocery store or around the dinner table. World Gospel Mission wants Christians to explore how those differences affect evangelism.

During this month on the Unsolved Ministries in Missions blog, WGM is asking believers to discuss how generational characteristics might change their approach when sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

"It's obvious that someone from the Baby Boomer generation and a Generation X-er think differently about many things," says Tim Rickel, vice president of Development. "We need to talk about these things in light of sharing the gospel."

Cross-generational evangelism, generational differences both in the United States and in other countries, and seeking unity in the body of Christ are all part of the discussion. Participants can look at information from Barna Group, one of evangelical Christianity's most trusted statistics source, Christianity Today, the Bible, and other sources to delve into this "unsolved ministry."

"Rather than be alarmed at the way a 16-year-old looks at life as compared to the way a 60-year-old would, we need to explore those differences because they can help us find ways to talk about Jesus with people of all ages, from all places, and from all backgrounds," says Rickel.
