WGM Yard Sale Nets Money for Missions, Unexpected Blessings
MEDIA ADVISORY, May 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- With the help of a small army of volunteers, World Gospel Mission recently held a massive yard sale to clear out mountains of furniture, computers, and more.
While the event, held May 7-8, raised $1,500 that will go directly to missions, organizers say the real blessing was connecting WGM with its neighbors and the community.
"Before the sale, we prayed that as people came to the sale, they would feel this was a good place," said Sharon Hawk, who helped coordinate volunteers who ran the sale as part of a weeklong service commitment. "One gentleman said he would tell everyone how good WGM was because WGM was good to him by selling scrap metal at such a low price."
"Yard sales are a great way to raise funds for missions trips or other causes," according to Hawk. "It's stuff we don't need anyway! Why not see what God can do with our 'castoffs?'"
Grant County Rescue Mission also received an unexpected blessing when WGM donated several unsold furniture items to the mission.
